MALCOLM ALLISON, 1927-2010

Malcolm Allison, the first Rogues coach, passed away today at the age of 83. He was truly, "Larger than life."

The Mystery Man of Memphis Sports. Sad that his passing was also a mystery to Memphis sports reporters.

Malcolm signed me out of the East West allstar game in Tampa. He promised to take me to England with Man city, however, after I went back for 2nd senior semester, He was fired because of Poor management and fullfillment of player contracts to Malcolm. I was fortunate to play for the great Eddie McCreadie but less fortunate to play for Charlie Cooke and I lost confidence and for the Memphis Fans that I am sorry because they were the best! Good bye my friend

Welcome to my tribute to the Memphis Rogues of the North American Soccer League. Both the team and the league were a big part of my life when I was a kid and I have never lost my fondness for them. The Memphis Rogues existed from 1978-1980 then moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada and spent one season (1981) as the Calgary Boomers. After the '81 season, the team folded. I hope to bring back memories for other Rogues and NASL fans. I am also a longtime fan of Chelsea FC. There is a connection between the Rogues and Chelsea due to players like Eddie McCreadie, Charlie Cooke, Alan Birchenall, and a few others. I would enjoy hearing from other fans and former players. Most of the items displayed on the blog are from my personal collection. If you have Rogues pictures please send them and I will credit you as the source.
